With the hope of bringing you "positive luck," we offer auspicious items made together with Otaru craftsmen.
[Candy apples]
"Candy Apples" from Amedani Confectionery, a confectionery shop founded in Otaru in 1918, are candies with a simple, sweet and sour taste made from Hokkaido beet sugar and Otaru water.
[Seven Lucky Treasures Candy]
"Shichi Fukuho Ame" is a colorful candy made from Hokkaido beet sugar and Otaru water. It has a strong sweetness on top and a clean, crisp aftertaste. This assortment includes large, single-colored cocktail candies and colorful temari candies.
[Wasanbon Mededai]
"Wasanbon Mede Tai" is a dried confectionery made with wasanbon sugar, which has a refined sweetness and melts in your mouth.
[I want to explore Otaru]
"Otaru Meguritai" is a traditionally baked monaka shell made from 100% glutinous rice, filled with chocolate and rice puffs. It is a monaka chocolate with an adorable design of a lucky sea bream.
[Otaru Canal Good Luck Manju]
These brown sugar buns are made by kneading plenty of honey and domestically produced brown sugar into the dough, then wrapping them around a paste of Hokkaido-grown red beans that have been carefully peeled one by one and steaming them.
[Otaru Tile-baked Baumkuchen]
Traditional Baumkuchen made by skilled craftsmen. It is cut into pieces and placed in an oven, where it is slowly baked into a rusk shape. Once the surface is golden brown, a generous amount of caramel powder is sprinkled on top and it is then placed in the oven again. This "triple baking" is the secret to its deliciousness. Each piece is handmade with great care.
