Soft stone floating sphere earrings

Liaison × UNGAPLUS

We asked Liaison, a Sapporo-based company that creates accessories using Sapporo soft stone, Hokkaido wood, and resin, to create the "Ukidama" accessory, available exclusively at UNGAPLUS. It is said that the origins of Otaru's glass culture can be traced back to the production of glass floats, which were developed alongside the development of herring fishing. Inspired by Otaru's floats, these beautifully designed earrings are carved from Sapporo soft stone into a sphere and feature a mesh rope made from 14kgf metal fittings.

It will be delivered in an eye-catching Liaison original box with a calm gray color.
It would also make a great gift.

These earrings are made from precious, historic stones. The supple lines that sway around the ears are beautiful and make a striking accessory.

[Sapporo soft stone]

Sapporo Soft Stone was registered as a Hokkaido Heritage Site in 2018 as a stone culture that supported Hokkaido's industry and life. Approximately 40,000 years ago, large-scale volcanic activity occurred in what is now Lake Shikotsu, causing pyroclastic flows to cool and solidify, later becoming Sapporo Soft Stone.
It began to be used as a fire-resistant building material during the pioneering era, when fires were a common problem. Because it retains heat, is fire-resistant, and is easy to process, it was used in many buildings, and even today, many buildings made of Sapporo soft stone remain in Otaru.
