Wazambon (Japanese sugar) - Goldfish (a symbol of good fortune)

"Wasanbon Mede Tai" is a dried confectionery made with wasanbon sugar, which has a refined sweetness and melts in your mouth. It is handcrafted by Japanese confectioners in Otaru using auspicious wooden molds with sea motifs such as shells, coins, gold coins, and sea bream.

Wasanbon sugar, a rare sugar essential to Japanese sweets and one of Japan's traditional food cultures, is said to have been transported from Sanuki (Kagawa Prefecture) and Awa (Tokushima Prefecture) by Kitamae-bune ships. Crafted by Otaru's Japanese sweet artisans, these sweets feature sea motifs such as shells, as well as auspicious shapes like coins, gold coins, and sea bream.
We will place a cute sea bream inside the coins and gold coins, enclose it in a small package that represents ``auspiciousness,'' and deliver it to you along with the story of Otaru.
