Shinji Yoshida

Shinji Yoshida

Nakatsu broom craftsman and artist born in 1984. Grew up in Nerima, Tokyo. In 2007, he began making Nakatsu brooms, a tradition passed down in Kanagawa Prefecture since the Meiji era, at Machizukuri Yamagami Co., Ltd. He is involved in a wide range of activities, including production, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and writing. He is currently based in Otaru, Hokkaido. His major awards include an honorable mention in the 51st Chiba Tetsuya Award, the 9th SICF runner-up prize, and has been selected for the Japan Folk Crafts Museum Exhibition since 2011. He was the 2017 Takumi Kanagawa representative for the LEXUS NEW TAKUMI PROJECT, and received the Japan Folk Crafts Museum Exhibition Association Award in 2021.
