"What is this?" I found while walking around Otaru

Interesting Buildings on the North Canal (1)

This 3-4 story wooden building is located about a 2 minute walk northwest from the UNGAPLUS store. I personally like the look of it. Every time I pass by it, I look at it and think, "It would be so nice and crisp with a little maintenance."

(Leaving aside the question of how much it costs to maintain it) It doesn't appear to be used for anything other than storage at present. I don't know what the interior is like. The paint is pretty much peeling, but... it has white-painted paneled walls and crisp, square window frames on the front facade. Between the windows on the second and third floors is a diamond-shaped decorative panel. And on the right side of the building... it's white Waka Totani lol.

I don't know what architectural style this building is, but it's a traditional, clean, square wooden building. I'd love for someone to open a unique shop here and help make the North Canal area a wonderful place together. Of course, with a product lineup that doesn't compete with UNGAPLUS, haha.
