This is a cast-in plate with an Ainu pattern design, created through a collaboration between Lake Akan Ainu Consulting, which promotes manufacturing with a modern sensibility while cherishing Ainu traditions at Lake Akan in Akan-Mashu National Park in eastern Hokkaido, and Yamahira Kiln, an Arita ware kiln. 
The Ainu pattern designed by Akan-based woodcarver Kiyoshi Hikawa was applied by Yamahira Kiln, an Arita ware manufacturer, using the casting technique and fired in a beautifully colored celadon glaze. 
Arita ware, decorated with beautiful traditional Ainu patterns, combines the skills passed down from two regions to create tableware that adds color to modern life. 
Kiyoshi Hikawa (woodcarver) moved to Akanko Onsen at a young age, where he learned the knowledge and skills of Ainu ceremonies, woodcarving, plant gathering, etc. from his parents. While running the Hikawa Folk Crafts Shop, which produces and sells woodcarvings, he has also trained many young people to carry on the culture.
Lake Akan is located in eastern Hokkaido. Currently, approximately 120 Ainu people live in Lake Akan Ainu Kotan, and many Ainu craft makers incorporate modern sensibilities and challenge themselves to create new things while cherishing traditions. "AKAN AINU ARTS&CRAETS→NEXT" is a project that conveys the creative activities of Ainu craft artists living in the present day, while preserving the traditions passed down by the Ainu.

Returns, Exchanges, and Cancellations
Please note that we cannot accept returns, exchanges, cancellations, changes to your order details, or modifications to your order for customer convenience after the order has been completed.
If, in the unlikely event, the delivered item is defective, please contact us via the inquiry form within 7 days of receiving the item.
In the case of a defective item, we will cover the shipping costs associated with the return.
