[ARAMAKI] Work gloves in a gift box

Aramaki salmon is a traditional food culture of northern Japan and a staple year-end gift. ARAMAKI, which found new potential in the wooden boxes used for aramaki salmon after it had served its purpose, offers new perspectives on manufacturing and has created these uniquely designed work gloves. The gift box contains two pairs of work gloves in a wooden box made from recycled salmon.

The gloves are decorated with images of a bear carrying a salmon, the name of a seafood processing company, place names in eastern Hokkaido such as Nemuro, Kushiro, and Akkeshi, and salmon grades. They were created in collaboration with GEAR8, a web production company based in Sapporo.

These one-size-fits-all work gloves are made from a breathable, quick-drying, and stretchy cotton and polyester blend. They're perfect for a variety of outdoor activities, including camping, gardening, cycling, and DIY projects. They're a lifestyle item that combines functionality and design.
It will be delivered wrapped in this craft paper with an eye-catching design.

ARAMAKI began when a shrine carpenter who returned to his hometown discovered the potential of salmon boxes, which were a common item in Hokkaido.
Miyadaiku (carpenters of shrines and temples) teach us to "cherish wood," "use it to the fullest," and "use the right material in the right place." By reevaluating and utilizing the value of the salmon box as a material, we continue to search for a "right place" for it that goes beyond just storing salmon.
As we continued our activities, we visited wooden box manufacturers, sawmills, and seafood processing companies in Kushiro, and learned about the current situation in the fishing, forestry, and distribution industries, such as how wooden boxes are being replaced by polystyrene foam, and the decline in salmon catches.We are therefore reviewing production lines, developing products together with manufacturing companies, and creating a space to think about the future of primary industries.
From Aramaki to Aramaki. We aim to bring new richness to everyday life by reflecting the food culture surrounding Aramaki salmon in our manufacturing.
