[unga+gift] Otaru matchmaking "Intertwined destinies"

Yohei Iwayama's pottery works captivate with their simple designs, stripped down to the essentials. We asked Iwama-san to create something auspicious that could be used every day, and together we created "unga + gift," which delivers original UNGA↑ gifts, as a way to create "overlapping connections." It's a storage solution for stacking circular containers of varying heights, and it embodies the idea of "circles (connections) overlapping." The combination of a free-form cup and a small plate, both of which are easy to use, can be used in various everyday situations, not just as tableware for Japanese or Western cuisine, but also on desktops, dressers, and more. You can choose from two colors: "Marble," which has a wood-like texture, and "Black," which has a matte texture and is charcoal-colored. We will deliver the two sets together, packed in an original UNGA↑ gift box.

◎Marble This marble pattern is made with about 10% local Hokkaido soil. The brown lines that flow across the surface like wood grain are iron powder contained in the clay that has flowed due to the glaze. They appear throughout the entire vessel like shooting stars. ◎ Black By applying black glaze to black clay, we achieve a matte, urban "black" texture. Perfect for everyday use by adults.

She studied pottery under potter Shinobu Hashimoto and has been based in Sapporo since 2014. In addition to simple white-glazed and matte-textured vessels with a pleasant touch, the artist creates works with diverse expressions, including vessels with eye-catching marble patterns created by melting iron powder contained in the clay with heat. I approach pottery with a unique worldview that connects the world of reality and imagination, and I create tableware that I hope will bring a sense of richness to daily life, tableware that people can enjoy using. In recent years, the venues for presentations have expanded not only within Hokkaido, but also outside of Hokkaido and overseas.

We have carefully considered the memories and history of the town that prospered through the trade of Kitamagai ships, and we will package your purchase in an original gift box inspired by the pure white sails of the Kitamagai ships.
