We asked KIM GLASS DESIGN, which has a workshop on the seafront in Shukutsu, Otaru, to create an original glass for UNGAPLUS. The history of glass in Otaru began with everyday items such as storage containers for daily necessities, oil lamps, and floats for fishing. While the demand for glass products has decreased over time, they have evolved from practical items to design items, remaining deeply rooted in Otaru's culture. This glass is designed to resemble the sails of Kitamae-bune ships sailing across the sea. It comes in two designs: white and striped. Left: White, Right: Stripes

The simple shape brings out the charm of the transparent glass, and the moderate thickness makes it feel stable in the hand. The sparkle increases with the drink poured into it, allowing you to enjoy the expression of the light shining through it. It will be delivered in this UNGAPLUS original box. Enjoy the flickering scenery reflected in the glass while thinking of the Kitamae ships that once sailed across the Sea of ​​Japan with their pure white sails.

This glass workshop is located on the seafront in Shukutsu, Otaru. The workshop pours its heart and soul into the glass melted at 1,300°C, creating meticulous pieces with the hope of bringing a smile to the faces of those who hold them in their hands. While young, the workshop's representative, Naoki Kimura, is one of the driving forces behind Otaru's new glass scene. Selected as a Hokkaido craftsman for the 2017 LEXUS NEW TAKUMI PROJECT, he takes on new challenges every day, such as reinterpreting "Otaru ware" through glass. His wide range of works range from simple, stripped-down everyday items to beautiful crafts featuring patterns that reflect the delicate sensibilities of the Japanese, as well as playful, uniquely shaped objects.
