The BEST Things to Do in Otaru, Japan｜Otaru Day Trip
The Central Market, a 3-minute walk from JR Otaru Station, has been a familiar place for Otaru residents since the Showa period. In the last few years, it has become a very enjoyable building, with young people opening a series of small unique shops, such as general shops, flower shops and tea shops, etc. In October 2019, 1cafe opened in a corner of one of the very first buildings built in the central market, which has one to three buildings as a building.
The entrance is simple yet stylish, with white walls and blue-grey doors. This is the only place that gives a very good impression of natural modernity. When you open the door and go inside, the ground floor has a counter and two tables that can seat four people, and the brick walls create a relaxed bar-like atmosphere, which is very nice; the second floor has one large table that can seat five to six people, so it looks good for large groups or private parties.
The lunch menu includes Neapolitan and keema curry, as well as several food items that change from time to time, and lunch comes with a salad and a drink. All sweets are also homemade, with baked cheesecake, gateau chocolat and pudding available. In the evening, they also serve delicious a la carte dishes and drinks. We recommend this café, which is easy to enter even if you are on your own.
