"What is this?" I found while walking around Otaru
We are doing the "Kita Unga Walk" on the north side of the Otaru Canal, a place that not many locals go to.
Simply put, it's a "North Canal Walk." A walk, huh?!
The other day, as I rounded a corner, a building suddenly appeared before me, its dignified appearance making me stand up straight. It was an orthodox wooden house, likely in the style of Kin-san Gin-san (the wooden housing department of the former Hayakawa branch).

I haven't looked into the historical background so I don't know the details, but judging from appearance alone, I don't think it's entirely false to say that they're like "juniors from the same hometown or childhood friends."
There was a nameplate hanging there, so it seems he is still active today.
It felt like it was pretty well taken care of.

I feel like I often see these in areas where old townscapes remain, such as Kansai, Hokuriku, and the Tokyo metropolitan area, but I have rarely seen wooden buildings like this in Hokkaido, where it is extremely cold, so it was quite refreshing to see them.
The more you walk around Otaru, the more astonished you will be.
Nickname: Kin-san and Gin-san's junior
