"What is this?" I found while walking around Otaru
This style...was once popular? There are quite a few houses in the city with a gable roof (a roof shaped like an isosceles triangle) with a triangular extension roof (with a storeroom or small room inside?) on just one side.

Despite the visual imbalance (sorry to the owners), the space inside has been expanded, and the snow on the roof is now shed to one side, so perhaps it's structurally advantageous in many ways. I'm so curious. What's inside? Why did they choose this extension method? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Do they need a specialist contractor? Is this style only used in Otaru...or throughout Hokkaido?
I don't think so... but has this been there since the building was new? No way... that can't be, lol. There are so many things I don't know at all. It's a deep area.
