"What is this?" I found while walking around Otaru
KITA UNGA MAP "I came from Sapporo after seeing the map. My friend and I spent half a day strolling around the North Canal and having tea. I'm not very knowledgeable about history, but I love the townscape here. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I took lots of photos. I'd like to come again. I love Otaru even more now." I hope there will be more people like this.

I also hope that more people will open unique shops. So, first of all, I want to find my own way to enjoy the area and how to convey that to people.
The basic walking route is... turn left at Otaru Canal from the station street, walk along the North Canal while looking at Hokkai Cannery, see the northernmost end of the canal and the group of stone warehouses, take a quick look at the former NYK Otaru branch from Canal Park, catch a glimpse of the ancient characters and remains of the elevated pier, experience the Iron Horse at the General Museum, walk around the walking path that is the former Temiya Line, and return to the Canal Cruise Central Bridge...or maybe it would be better to go in the opposite direction.

We are currently researching ways to enjoy the North Canal, which will help increase the number of repeat visitors to Otaru. We are considering how to promote this area, which has a unique landscape not found in other cities, in addition to touring the historic buildings.
