One of Otaru's leading representative establishments, "Wakadori Jidai Naruto Honten," affectionately known as "Naruto," has been cherished as a soul food by Otaru citizens since its establishment in 1965 (Showa 40). It can be said to be the originator of fried half-chicken in Hokkaido.

At the main branch in Inaho, Otaru City, in addition to the "fried half-chicken," which has become nationally famous as a signature dish, they offer a wide variety of menu items including sushi and donburi using Otaru seafood, various set meals, curry, tempura, and ramen.

A set meal of fried half-chicken, which made Wakadori Jidai Naruto famous nationwide. The fried half-chicken, delicious even when cold, is also popular for takeout.

The fried half-chicken has maintained its traditional flavor since the restaurant's founding, with crispy skin and juicy meat. Excess fat is removed, so it doesn't feel as greasy as it looks and is surprisingly light. The lightly salted seasoning pairs excellently with white rice, as well as with beer.

Wakadori Jidai Naruto offers a wide range of meal options, including ramen and sashimi set meals.

All payments are made in advance, and additional orders are settled individually at the time of order.

Q. How do I get to Otaru?

The most convenient way from Sapporo is via the JR Hakodate Main Line, with the Rapid Airport train taking approximately 32 minutes from Sapporo Station to Otaru Station. It is also easily accessible for tourists from outside Hokkaido, taking about 75 minutes from New Chitose Airport without transfers.

Q. How much time is needed for Otaru sightseeing?

Half a day to a full day is recommended if you want to leisurely explore the main areas such as around the canal and Sakaimachi Street. If you add glass craft experiences, the Music Box Museum, and meals, a 1-night, 2-day trip will be even more fulfilling.

Q. When is the best time to visit the Otaru Canal?

Dusk to night is especially recommended. Gas lamps light up along the stone warehouses, and the reflection of the lights on the water is a representative scene of Otaru. During winter (January-February), the "Otaru Snow Light Path" is held, offering a magical atmosphere.

Q. What gourmet food should I definitely eat in Otaru?

Sushi, seafood donburi, and grilled seafood are particularly famous. Otaru is home to many renowned sushi restaurants, with an area even called "Sushi Street." Also, local sweets like LeTAO's cheesecake and soft-serve ice cream are not to be missed.

Q. When is the best season for Otaru sightseeing?

Each season offers different charms. Summer (July-August) is ideal for strolls with mild weather, and autumn (September-October) offers beautiful autumn leaves and delicious seafood. Winter features snowy landscapes and the "Snow Light Path," while spring has fewer tourists, allowing for a more relaxed visit.

Q. Are there hot springs in Otaru?
