Hiyoriyama Lighthouse

Hiyoriyama Lighthouse, a popular scenic spot in Otaru, is a red and white two-toned lighthouse located on Takashima Cape in Shukutsu, Otaru. It is a historic lighthouse that was lit for the second time in Hokkaido in 1883, after Nosappu Misaki Lighthouse. At that time, it was constructed as a wooden hexagonal white lighthouse. However, when viewed from the sea aboard a sightseeing boat touring the Otamoi Coast, its appearance is overwhelmingly powerful, with numerous reddish-brown strange rock formations and peaks rising from sea level.
