A famous Chinese restaurant with a hugely popular original menu.

Located about a 10-minute walk from Otaru Station, Chinese Restaurant Ryuho is a hugely popular Chinese restaurant known for its surprisingly large portions and unique original menu. The restaurant's yellow roof, red lettering, and the constant line of customers in front of the restaurant are its landmarks. The regular size of their Ankake Yakisoba is a large serving with two noodles. The half size is the regular size with one noodle. The large serving is a massive portion with three noodles. Sharing is prohibited, so we recommend starting with the half size. It's not just the size that's surprising, there are 23 different flavors of Ankake Yakisoba.

A directly managed store of Abe Seimen, a long-established noodle manufacturer.

Founded in Otaru in 1949 and run by Abe Seimen, a long-established noodle manufacturer, Otaru Ankake Dokoro Tororian is a specialty restaurant where you can enjoy the local gourmet dish, Ankake Yakisoba. The homemade thin noodles made specifically for yakisoba are coated in a rich, filling sauce, creating a taste that evokes a sense of nostalgia. Two flavors are available: soy sauce and salt. In addition to the Ankake menu, they also have a wide range of other dishes on the menu, including ramen, mazesoba, and Chinese dim sum.

A pioneering restaurant in Otaru's Ankake Yakisoba.

Located in the arcade of Miyakodori Shopping Arcade, about a five-minute walk from JR Otaru Station, Chinese Restaurant Keien was founded in 1969 and has been loved by Otaru residents for over 50 years. Its most popular dish is its ankake yakisoba, and it is a pioneering restaurant that has popularized Otaru ankake yakisoba as a standard menu item since it first opened. The thick sauce, full of vegetables with a soft sesame oil aroma, and the crispy grilled noodles have a chewy texture, making it an excellent combination. It has many loyal fans both inside and outside the city.

Located in front of the Otaru Canal Asakusabashi Bridge, a convenient spot for sightseeing in Otaru, Otaru Chinese Restaurant Yoshi is a Chinese restaurant founded in 1988 that is beloved by local Otaru residents. The restaurant is housed in the Kyowahama Building, a four-story reinforced concrete building constructed in 1933 and designated as a historic building by Otaru City. The restaurant offers over 80 dishes on the menu, including Otaru's local delicacy, Gomoku Ankake Yakisoba. The Gomoku Ankake Yakisoba is packed with ingredients including pork, shrimp, Chinese cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, squid, carrots, and onions, and the delicious umami of the seafood and sweetness of the vegetables complements the crispy fried noodles perfectly. For large groups, a private room overlooking the Otaru Canal is recommended.

The owner, who worked at a hotel in Otaru, has now gone independent.

Tenrenge is located just below the entrance to the historic Catholic Otaru Church Tomioka Cathedral, halfway up Jigokuzaka, a hill leading to Otaru University of Commerce, a short distance from the center of Otaru. The owner, who previously worked at a hotel in Otaru, opened the restaurant in 2015. The restaurant has gained a reputation among locals for its authentic Chinese cuisine at reasonable prices. You can choose from three types of thickened yakisoba: mixed vegetables, shredded pork, or shrimp (salted). In addition to thickened yakisoba, there are many other dishes on the menu, and the hearty fried chicken set meal is extremely popular.

There is a constant stream of customers even outside of lunchtime.

Located in Yanagawa-dori Shopping Street, about a five-minute walk from Otaru Station Street, Tokoro is a traditional Chinese restaurant beloved by locals. It's always busy, even outside of lunchtime. Their thick, thick fried noodles come in a classic soy sauce flavor, as well as a hidden menu item: salt. The toppings include plenty of Chinese cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, onions, bamboo shoots, wood ear mushrooms, bok choy, pork, and shrimp. The noodles are crispy, like rice crackers, and fried instead of baked, in the Otaru style.
