"Otaru Chinese Restaurant Hao" is a Chinese restaurant founded in 1988, loved by local Otaru citizens, conveniently located directly facing Otaru Canal Asakusabashi for Otaru sightseeing. The building housing the restaurant is the "Kyowa Hama Building," a four-story reinforced concrete structure built in 1933 and designated as a historic building by Otaru City. They offer over 80 menu items, including Otaru's local gourmet "Gomoku Ankake Yakisoba." The "Gomoku Ankake Yakisoba" is packed with ingredients like pork, shrimp, napa cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, squid, carrots, and onions, and the delicious umami of seafood and sweetness of vegetables pair perfectly with the crispy fried noodles. Tenrenge is located slightly away from the center of Otaru, partway up "Jigokuzaka" (Hell Slope) which leads to Otaru University of Commerce, and just below the entrance to the historic Catholic Otaru Church Tomioka Cathedral. Customers continue to flock even outside of lunchtime. For "Ankake Yakisoba," there is the classic soy sauce flavor and a hidden salt-flavored menu item. The ingredients include plenty of napa cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, onions, bamboo shoots, wood ear mushrooms, bok choy, pork, and shrimp. The noodles are stir-fried in the Otaru style, not hardened into a crispy "senbei" (cracker-like) shape.
